How Buddha Respond to Anger

“If you want to stop hurting yourself, you need to get rid of your anger and turn it into love. When you hate others, you become unhappy. But when you love others, everyone is happy.”
 ~ The Buddha

One day, as Buddha was walking through a village, a furious and rude man suddenly approached him and insulted him.

“You have no right to teach others,” he shouted. “You’re just as stupid as everybody else. You are nothing more than a sham.”

His insults did not not upset Buddha. Instead, he calmly asked the young man: “Tell me, if you buy a gift for someone, and that person does not accept it, to whom does the gift belong?”

The young man, startled by the strange question, replied, “It belongs to me because I bought the gift.”

Buddha smiled and said, “That’s right. And it’s exactly the same with your anger. If you get mad at me and I don’t feel insulted, then that anger comes back to you. You’re the only one who becomes unhappy, not me.”

“All you’ve done only hurts yourself,” he concluded.

Remember, anger solves nothing. It creates nothing and destroys everything. Only if anger is turned into love, everyone can be happy.
